Sliperiet – Art, Culture and Gastronomy in Borgvik

Sliperiet Art Hall & Gastronomy is located in the historic cultural setting of Borgvik, Värmland. Housed in a former industrial building dating back to 1903, originally built as a wood-grinding mill and pulp factory, Sliperiet is today a meeting place for art, culture and gastronomy.

The art gallery is at the heart of Sliperiet, hosting exhibitions featuring both internationally established artists and emerging artists with strong local connections. The building is also home to Sliperiet Gastronomi, run by Matbruket, offering food and a welcoming meeting place for visitors throughout the year.

Exhibition 2026

Anton Corbijn
16 May – 6 September 2026
This summer, Sliperiet presents works by Anton Corbijn, one of the most influential image-makers of our time. His distinctive and often understated visual style is characterised by vulnerability, stillness and a strong sense of human presence. Throughout his career, Corbijn has worked in both photography and film and has portrayed many internationally renowned figures from the worlds of music and culture.

Six artists – six voices
Upstairs in the attic, six artists come together, each with their own distinctive style and background. Discover Albin Liljestrand’s detailed ink and watercolour works, Eka Acosta’s animal sculptures made from wire, Bea Ljung’s dystopian pencil drawings and Emelie Mikkonen’s experimental work in clay and glass.

The exhibition also features Simon Andersson’s sculptures exploring themes of heritage and belonging, as well as David Tedfeldt’s paintings inspired by everyday life in Karlstad.

Together, the artists offer a diverse perspective on contemporary art from Värmland – rooted in the local landscape while looking towards the wider world.

Sliperiet Gastronomi – Food and Dining

At Sliperiet’s restaurant, lunch and other meals are served in a unique setting where art, culture and gastronomy come together. The restaurant is run by Matbruket, with a focus on good food, personal service and a welcoming atmosphere.

Sliperiet’s founder, Oscar Magnusson, built the verksamhet around his three great passions – art, food and music.

Sliperiet also offers spaces for events, meetings, retreats and private tours. The unique setting is suitable for both small and larger groups and provides an opportunity to combine art, culture and gastronomy.

Music and Events

Music is an important part of Sliperiet’s programme, with a variety of concerts and musical events taking place throughout the year. Check the Grums events calendar for upcoming concerts and events.

During the summer, Sliperiet hosts Sköna Söndag – intimate musical experiences where the small and personal take centre stage. Combine the concert with a three-course Sunday Supper for an evening filled with music and food.
