Boat trips without a boat of your own

Do you want to explore the Vänern archipelago by boat? With our seven tips you can take to the water on a Båtbuss (boat bus), tour boat or taxi boat for a great day trip with all the family. Use the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful adventure en route to your destination.

 

“Boat bus” in the northern Vänern archipelago

From Karlstad, Hammarö, Kristinehamn and Grums, boats operate to several islands in the northern archipelago. This type of boat service is called Båtbuss (boat bus) as it is part of the local public transport network. In Karlstad, Båtbuss services have operated from the inner harbour Inre Hamn since the summer of 2021. Trips to Lurö Island

If you don’t have a boat of your own, you can simply take the tour boat from Ekenäs in Värmlandsnäs to Lurö Island. You will see a dense part of the archipelago along the way. The boat passes Aspholmen and Gunnarsholmen’s lighthouses. Further out on the open water, you might also see several birds during your journey. Read more here.
